BIRMINGHAM DAY CENTRES

The Fireside Day Centre
The Fireside Day Centre grew out of the Drop-In Centre at St Martin's in the Bull Ring which was begun in 1982 by the Birmingham City Churches. The Fireside opened in November 1994 in completely refurbished premises in Pershore Street and is able to offer additional facilities in more spacious accommodation. It is an ecumenical project, run by the Sisters of St Paul, Selly Park and Birmingham City Centre Council of Churches, and staffed by volunteers from all church traditions.

Urgently needed
We're currently very short of the following items - donations gratefully received!

Sugar
Toiletries, such as razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes and shampoo. (We have plenty of soap!)
Please note that we can only give out new, unused toiletries.
Sunday volunteers. Could you spare a couple of hours one Sunday a month? If so, please get in touch - we'd be delighted to hear from you! (See our How You Can Help page for more information about volunteering at the Fireside.)

Welcome to SIFA (Supporting Independence From Alcohol)

SIFA exists to empower individuals with alcohol problems, who are homeless or otherwise socially disadvantaged or marginalized, to become more independent and improve the quality of their lives on their own terms.

SIFA is an organisation that has worked since 1983 with those affected by their use of alcohol. Alcohol problems exist in all our communities and the impact of such problems can affect all aspects of our lives including personal relationships, health issues, our homes and finances, our wellbeing or our work.

SIFA works to support people to make changes in their use of alcohol and recognizes that to successfully make such changes then other issues may also need to be addressed. We are therefore able to support service users in their decisions to make changes to other areas or issues in life
