Drug and Alcohol Hospital Liaison Nurse
Selly Oak hospital has a drug and alcohol nurse who will advise you and support referrals to other drug services while you’re in hospital. The nurse will also advise medical staff of the best treatment options for you. If you go to A&E, you can ask see the drug and alcohol hospital liaison nurse. If the nurse is not on duty, a referral will be made and you will be seen at the hospital as soon as possible.

Inpatient unit
The in-patient unit is a residential unit where you can go for 2-4 weeks. They will support your detox, stabilisation programme and physical needs. They work closely with the DASS and Social Care and Health Rehab Team to ensure you treatment is co-ordinated.

You can be referred to this service: If you are in contact with a Drug agency. They can make the referral for you to be assessed by the Detox and Stabilisation Service (DASS). They will support your application for an in-patient detox or stabilisation treatment. The Social Care and Health Rehab Team will also support you while you’re in detox to ensure everything runs smoothly.

The Compass Team work alongside drug workers and mental health workers to develop a treatment programme to meet the needs of drug users with mental health issues.

Blood Borne Virus Team
This team offer blood borne virus screening, testing and immunisation. They can support you while you are waiting for the results of your tests and will continue to support you through any treatment you may need. This service as a very stringent confidentiality policy to protect you rights. They work closely with the hospital trust’s liver and gastro units at Selly Oak Hospital. The BBV worker will refer you to this service.
